GRUNGE TECHNIQUES LEARNED

Two new grunge techniques

that I'm working with.

I tend to be very controlled

when I'm playing with paper.

(Or any crafting for that matter!)

With this technique ...

well, you just have to let go!

(I'm still working on the letting go part!)

Technique #1

Working with Masks

 I used two different masks on this card.

The clock in the upper right corner

and the corner arch in the lower left.

 

 

I added a few metal gears,

grunge ink and stamped the

letters ....LOVE!

Technique #2

Clear Embossing

This card uses a clear embossing technique.

I used grunge inks and spray ink

to work the background.

This is the embossing technique.

Clear embossing ink and powder!

After heat set and cooled,

rub grunge ink over image.

The stamped/embossed image

resist the ink!

Learning, learning, learning!

Not sure what I'm going to do with

all this knowledge, but I am

learning a boat load of

paper crafting techniques!

FOR MY DOGGIES!

Another project from my

BIA Class.

This time I made a 6x6 book;

learning a new technique for

the cover and a few new

way to display pages.

ENJOY!

 My new little book is for my

pets! As I mentioned before,

my daughter and I are sorting

pictures and we have found

a lot of photo's of pets we have

had over the years. Thought

it would be fun to make a little book

to store all or our 'pet' memories.

 I learned a new technique for the

cover. It's a canvas board which I

first sprayed with Glimmer Mist by

Tattered Angels. After that layer dried,

I attached shapes cut from the paper I

was using and then sprayed it with

a bit darker Glimmer Mist. Once dry,

I removed the paper pieces and

outlined with a black pen.

This was a fun, new a creative

idea! I love the texture it created.

 Of course ....lots of ribbon!

 Little pockets and tags!

 I love the little puppy on the page!

 I learned a new page layout.

Fold out pages!

 Adds a lot of space to use for photo's without

taking up space with lots pages!

 And, of course a few buttons!

DON'T BE BORED!

I know I've been sharing lots

of paper projects and I

hope I'm not boring anyone ....

But, I'm learning so many new 

techniques and just love to share!

One of my latest projects ....

This is a little 4x4 book.

It uses acrylic for the cover and

a few new folded pockets I learned
how to make.

 My daughter and I just happen to be

going through all of our photo's to

reorganize them.  

I'm going to use this little album

to put some pictures of hubby and

me over the last (almost) 40 years together!

 I really like how this little album turned out!

over at My Creative Classroom.

Our assignment last week was

to make a BIA Reference

Board Book.

and so usable!

I've been playing with 

paper again!

ACCORDION ALBUM!

 This little album was so much fun

to make.

Add a bit of folded paper!

Some paper in between!

A few cards and ribbon!

Journal pages to store

encouraging words and quotes!

Journal pages have a little

flap with a vintage journal embellishments!

And, there you have my little According Book!

A FEW NEW PROJECTS!

The ATC Class at

MY CREATIVE CLASSROOM

is coming to a close.

I'm a bit behind in some of

the classes using different

techniques, but I'll catch up.

That's what is great about on-line

classes. You can follow them at

your own pace!

Here are three set's of

cards that I've done so far.

I'm really enjoying creating these

little works of art!

These cards were suppose to

use stamping.  Since I didn't really

have a stamp that I wanted to use,

I decided to use my Cricut Expressions

to cut my butterfly and dimensional wings.

I attached the wing cutouts just at the

middle section.  I made whole butterflies,

then cut in two. I was able to get two

cards out of one butterfly!

 I really like how this turned out;

even though I didn't use the stamp technique.

The next cards were made for

the class ATC Swap.  We were to make

nine cards, either alike or each different

to send to our ATC classmates.

Here is my design that I sent out.

I used different paper backgrounds,

but kept everything the same on each card.

I did use alternating gold and copper

embellishments!

This just has to be one of my 

fav's so far!

These were the first card set that I made.

 This assignment was to make

a basic card design. Then aging

and adding cut out vintage images.

 I also tried stitching around the

edge, which gives it a really finished look.

I call this set

"Look for the Woman"

On my last post, I told you

about a new internet class

that I'm taking from

MY CREATIVE CLASSROOM!

The In's and Out's of Artist Trading Cards

Lesson 2 was to practice using a couple

of transfer techniques.  I started with

a canvas transfer technique ...

but have found I need to work

on my technique.

In order to post something for

my lesson ....I made my first set

of cards without the transfer technique!

I just made a collage using

vintage art that I have in my collection.

I distressed the background using

Tim Holtz's distress inks and

sprayed lightly with Tattered Angel's

Glimmer Mist.

I then added my elements!

Did a bit a stitching around the edges!

I really like how my first set

of ATC's turned out!

I think I'm liking this ATC idea!

Small pieces of art, which don't

take a lot of time to create!!

A NEW ADVENTURE!

Finally, the creative juices are

starting to flow a bit!

I signed up for a class

'The Ins and Outs of

Artist Trading Cards

at My Creative Classroom.

I've never worked with

ATC's before and I thought

it would be a good course

to learn a few new techniques.

Our first assignment was to create

an album to keep your ATC's in.

I ordered a few ATC supplies from

ATC Store.

While I'm waiting for them to

arrive, I decided to go ahead and

put my album together.

I found this album at

Office Depot yesterday ...

I couldn't pass it up ...

it was only $1.50!!!

And, I thought the cover could

be incorporated someway into

the design!

So after a few pieces of paper,

ribbon and gem's.

My first ATC album!

Nothing fancy! Sometimes I tend to

add too much to my designs!

Now, I just have to fill it up

with artful ATC's!!!

HOLIDAY MEMORIES

I've been creating!

Actually, I've been working

on a Christmas Project

for a few holiday gifts.
This is the aftermath on
my work table!

 I've been making a few

Holiday Memory Books.

 These little books have been

so much fun to make!

 The books measure approximately

8 1/2" X 3 1/2".

The front and back are covered 

chipboard, and there are five

envelopes inside with a

journal card in each envelope.

 I can't begin to tell you

all of the embellishments that I used!

 Each book is a bit different.

 A peak of the inside.

I put a small journal spot

and a blank square for a picture 

to be added by the recipient. 

 I'm a little sad that I'm all finished with

these little books!

 They have been such fun to

put together. 

I do hope that the recipients will

be pleased and delighted!! 

 A few more spots for

memories and photos.

Yes, indeed!

I had sooooo much fun!

But, not to worry!

I have one more book to

assemble for my family!
