SAYING GOODBYE TO FALL!

Even though Winter seems to be

approaching quickly here in

the Salt Lake City Valley ...

DH and I went for an outing

last weekend; driving the

Alpine Loop through

the Timpanogos National Forest.

Here are a few of our

favorite photo's.

 Well, this is the end of the trip!

We had lunch at Robert Redford's

Sundance Ski Resort.

It's really more of an 'artist'

retreat.

This has to be one of my

favorite places!

The Alpine Loop is just

breath taking. I feel

so much in tune with nature

and much more at peace with myself

after visiting this Indian Statue.

Saying goodbye to Fall!

OUT TO PASTURE ...

That's exactly how I feel ...

Like I need to be taken

OUT TO PASTURE!

So many different 

things going on in my life right now!

I just want to runaway sometimes!

DH and I took off this

weekend in this...

And, yes we sleep in the trailer!

We took a few days off and headed

north for a bit of R&R!

It wasn't enough time though,

we need more R&R!

Well, perhaps before the first

winter snow fall we can

manage to get out again!

BACK TO THE OLD HOMESTEAD

I'm back! I've been missing in

action lately.

My DH and I left for Iowa on

July 13th. Our grandchildren had been

visiting us here in Utah. So, we

had to get them back home.

After Iowa, we left for

Minnesota to visit with family.

Had a great time and ended

up driving through the Black Hills

in South Dakota on our way back home.

I didn't really take too many photo's,

(it was just a really quick trip)

but we did manage to stop and take

another look at Mt. Rushmore!

The Black Hills is one of our favorite spots.

The detail of this massive undertaking is

just so real ...take a look at Lincoln's eye!

On the drive home, I was called

to go to Georgia to do a Cricut Cake

demonstration at one of the local

Joanne's Store. So, I got home

Wednesday from our trip back east.

Then I flew out on Friday for Georgia

and came back home on Saturday!

Let's just say ...I'm one pretty tired gal.

The demo went very well, and it was

fun to be in Georgia (though it was 

stifling hot and humid, humid, humid!

REST AND REFLECTION

Hello! I'm back from a bit of R&R.

After hearing of the loss of a dear friend,

DH and I just had to take a bit of time

to get away and just be in the moment.

We headed for Capital Reef National Park!

What a beautiful place to spend

time reflecting and getting

your thoughts together.

So off we went in our little Teardrop trailer!

We take her out for short little trips!

Very comfy to sleep in and has all

the camping extra's one needs!

Isn't she a cutie? We make quite a statement

driving down the open highway!

Being in Capital Reef National Park

was a wonderful and reflective place

to spend a little time.

The skies were beautiful!

The scenery was breathtaking!

How could one not get a bit of perspective

on life with this stunning scenery?

 Capital Reef National Park is

simply breathtaking!

With it's deep blue skies

and red rock reef walls.

There is a lot of history here in Capital Reef.

Petroglyphs dating back over a 1000 years.

This was our beautiful view from our

camp sight! Pretty nice digs, right?

And, this! A view from the drive home!

Seeing all this natural beauty really helped

me to think, reflect, and to put a few

things in perspective.

There's a much larger world out there

of great beauty and magnitude.

It humbles oneself and makes you

realize how very small you really all!

I mean, looking at places that are

thousands of years old and how

nature has weathered the surroundings

and created something so beautiful out

of sand and stone!

It's truly a humbling experience!

Thank you all for leaving such kind

and wonderful expression of love

for the loss of a dear friend!

Your words truly touched my heart!

MY ADVENTURE BEGINS ....

I mentioned on my last post that I have 

special news and will tell you

ALL I WANT TO BE WHEN I GROW UP ....

IS A ROOT'N TOOT'N COWGIRL!

I’m a wanta’ be COWGIRL!
Yep, that’s right par’ner!
I want to saddle up my horse and
ride into the sunset;
or at least ride into the hills
with my red cowgirl boots upon my feet
and my suede cowgirl hat upon my head!
 

Yea right ….I must be dreaming!
It would be fun though, to sit upon a saddle and round up about 700 head of buffalo! For those wanna be cowboy's and cowgirl's for a fee of $25.00 each and one’s own horse, you indeed can participate in the Annual Bison Roundup.

Only those with ‘brave spirit’ need apply!

This past weekend we ventured out to Antelope Island on the Great Salt Lake to view the 23rd Annual Great Bison Roundup. It was really a treat to see cowboys and cowgirls in the saddle rounding up a large herd of Bison. Really makes one want to become a cowgirl!

For those who wish a bit of history on Antelope Island. Antelope Island is located on the Great Salt Lake. Antelope Island is the largest of the Great Salt Lake’s nine islands and is part of the Utah State Park systems. From the mainland, its 28,022 acres appear barren and deserted. But Antelope Island is home to a variety of flora and fauna native to the Great Basin region. The island was without its namesake antelope for many years, but they were reintroduced in 1993 and can now be seen in many areas of the park. Deer, bobcats, coyotes, many varieties of birds and waterfowl also call the island home. But most famous are Antelope Island's American Bison, introduced to the island in 1893 and now numbering some 600 animals. The world-renowned herd is managed by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation and visitors are welcome at the island's buffalo corral and management facilities. During the annual bison roundup each November, visitors can get a close-up look at the bison and the techniques used on a working buffalo ranch.

CAMPIN' AGAIN!

We took off this past weekend for camping and a group meeting with the 'Salty Teardrops' in Bryce Canyon, Utah. It was a specatular weekend and loaded with lots of fun! It twas' a bit on the cold side...the lowest night temperature was 30 degrees. I underestimated where we were going ...needless to say I'm restocking my camping gear to include parka's, beanie's and gloves!

Now for the trip! You ask, 'What is the Salty Teardrop' group? Well, it's a group of people ....young and old who have a fasination with teardrop trailers. Teardrop trailers come in a variety of shapes and sizes. We're lucky to have finally found a group here in the Salt Lake City Valley. There were people from Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and of course Utah at this particular campout! It was loads of fun and we met lots of wonderful people! Now you may be asking what is a 'Teardrop Trailer'? Where here it is .....

Here it is ...our tiny little 'Teardrop' ....and yes, we absolutely sleep in it!

As you can see by the picture ...it's a matched set! The teardrop and the cruiser! We look very stylish driving the open highways with our teardrop trailer!

Here we are at the campground and a closer look at out little home away from home!

An inside view ....see I told you that we sleep inside. It's so cozy and surprisingly lots of room.

Another view of the interior. There are even cabinets inside for nightly necessities, clothes and a place for our music. We never travel with television or radio ...only our Ipod. We totally get away from it all when we travel or camp!

Here's one of the spectacular views from our campsite! If you have not been to Bryce Canyon before ...it's definitely worth the trip!

Complete with hot tea! We never leave home without our tea!

I even took a little knitting, even though I didn't get much of that done!

And ....last, but not least ....the biffy! I totally have to have this when camping with the teardrop!

This is a picture of the rock formations within the canyon. They are quite spectacular.

These formations are called 'Hoo-Doos'. Something we learned this weekend! The definition is Hoodoo \Hoo"doo\, n. A natural rock pile or pinnacle of fantastic shape. [Western U. S.] The formations are caused by billions of years of erosion. I thought I'd share that bit of information with you today.
