Things have been so busy around here! I haven't had time to breathe! Dear Hubby is gone this week. He's in frigid Minnesota on business. I'm watching the new puppy, watching the grandkids, trying to clean out and reorganize our house ...and on top of all that....
trying to get some crafting squeezed in!
I signed up last month for a 'Design Your Own Felted Bag'. I didn't sign up for the instruction actually, I signed up to learn about how to graph my own designs. It was lots of fun and I learned a lot. I completed my bag this week so here it is!
First, you must start with lots of beautiful colors! I used Cascade 220! It's hard to decide what colors to use ...there are so many wonderful ones to choose from.
Here is the bag in progress! I did graph out my design and tweaked it along the way. For some reason I was into black and white checkerboard. I just had to work that in.
See ...checkerboard!The completed bag came out to be about 20" x 22" before felting.
Ta-da! The felted bag! I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. A lot of designing and knitting this bag was an experiment. I learned a lot of what works and what doesn't ...next 'designer' bag will be tweaked a bit. After felting this bag turned out to be about 16" x 18". I think I'm going to add a lining of some black and white checkerboard fabric with a few pockets here and there. I think this bag is destined to become another knitting tote bag.

WOW! It really turned out beautiful! That's something I've wanted to try but I'm not skilled enough to do a design! lol Hasn't OWOH been FUN! I'm so glad I participated, too!

This is so adorable Alice! I love the checkerboard pattern but all of the designs you put into this look great with the felting. I just purchased some old sweaters at the thrift store to try some felting with. I don't have your talent with needles so I have to use already knitted items!
