HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Okay...spring is peaking it's head out from beneath the dark winter sky. Summer will soon follow! We have lived in our new home for almost three years...it will be three years this coming November. When we initially moved in we had no backyard. Well, that's not to say there was a concrete patio slab...but not much else. We began with installing a fence, that was quite a project given it was winter. But, we accomplished it. The fence was installed! Then for the last two spring and summers we have worked very hard to get the grass green and putting in borders, trees, shrubs and of course a flower or two. We still need to add a few things to the backyard, but it's pretty much complete. The only problem we faced was what to do about the concrete slab. It makes a wonderful patio, but since our backyard faces south. That means lots of summer sun and a hot patio.

We finally have solved the problem. Upon a recent trip to our local Lowe's, we found the most wonderful patio cover and pretty cheap. Only $399! We could not build anything for that price. So without further delay, here is our new home improvement project....

The new patio cover is starting to take shape. It's a 13 x 13 patio...the new cover is 10 x 10.

Oh...I'm getting excited, the frame up!

Dear sweet hubby worked so hard, along with his faithful helper Abbie Girl!

IT'S UP! YIPEE! Isn't it beautiful?

I'm about to sit down with a glass of ice tea and a section of the newspaper. It's so grand to now have some shade and enjoy our backyard.

I do believe Miss Lilly enjoys the new backyard too!
