BUSY ...CRAZY!

Besides being busy crazy with trying to get some items made for my Etsy shop. (I'm trying to launch a new line of baby items.) I'm also busy crazy with my reading stacks. I have just not figured out how I can work in my studio ...creating; ...and read a book at the same time! Yes; I know, I could crank up the computer and listen to downloaded audio books on ITunes while I work; ....but, for some crazy reason I love reading the old fashion way. Actually sitting down with a cup of tea, holding and reading an actual book! Call me crazy, but that's how I like to read. All curled up on my cozy corner of my sofa!

So, I thought I'd share a bit of what's now consuming me to read while I'm creating!
This book I'm reading now. It goes everywhere I go ...trying to get in every little page I can when time allows! 'The Book of Lost Things' by John Connolly. A portion of the excerpt ...
'High in his attic bedroom, twelve-year-old David mourns the death of his mother, with only the books on his shelf for company. But those books have begun to whisper to him in the darkness. ....David is violently propelled into a world that is a strange reflection of his own - populated by heroes and monsters and ruled by a faded king who keeps his secrets in a mysterious book, The Book of Lost Things.
(So far ...this has been a great read!)

The second book to share is 'Nocturnes', by John Connolly. This is a book is a collection of five short fiction stories. In a dark, daring, utterly haunting anthology of lost lovers and missing children, predatory demons, and vengeful ghosts. .....Sounds delicious!

And ....there is this one! 'Three Bags Full' by Leonie Swann. This book caught my attention, perhaps because the cast of characters are sheep! This is a witty philosophical murder mystery with a charming twist: the crack detectives are sheep determined to discover who killed their beloved sheperd.

'Missing Mom' by Joyce Carol Oates. The character Nikki Eaton ...single, thirty-one, and self supporting. Yet, following the unexpected loss of her mother, she undergoes a remarkable transformation during a tumultuous year that brings stunning horror, sorrow, illumination, wisdom and even-from an unexpected source-a nurturing love.

Last, but certainly not least .... 'The Host', by Stephanie Meyer. A fascinataing, passionate, and unique psychological thriller. I read that someone equated this book as a love triangle ...only there are two people! Surprising news ....this book; I have downloaded onto my computer and listen to it while I'm in my studio. Something new I'm trying ....but, I still like reading the old fashion way! I'll report back on how I liked 'listening' to this book, instead of actually 'reading'!

If you have not read Stephanie's 'Twilight' series ....I highly recommend them. I've posted about this before. The 'Twilight' series is deliciously wonderful and the fourth and final book in this series is due out August 2nd! I already have it on reserve, and there is a new movie due this fall based on the first book 'Twilight'. I'll be the first in line! (Well, not really ...but, I've seen trailers and it looks even more spectacular than the book.)

And ....not to forget some of my favorites. The new Sommerset 'HOME' and 'ARTFUL BLOGGING' is out. I picked these up yesterday at my favorite store ....B&N!

And to add to these ....are these ....

I believe I'll save most of these for the coming long winter days and nights!

So, what's currently on your bedside reading table?

(PS ...While looking over this post, I realized that most of these listed reading books are dark and mysterious. I usually don't pick these kind of books ...but, they just called to me! Spooky, right?)

  1. Thank you for sharing what you're reading. The only book I've read on your list is "The Book of Lost Things". I enjoyed it a lot. I did buy the same two magazines yesterday and read those last night. I just finished reading "Time is a River" by Mary Alice Monroe and think it's a fabulous book. I wish all women would read it.

If you find the secret to crafting, housekeeping and still having time to read please let me know what it is! I prefer reading the old way too and have found that I have littel or no time unless something else gets dropped.
